BBC Panorama Splices Trump's Jan. 6 Speech
A Panorama documentary aired a week before the 2024 election. It joined two parts of Trump's Jan. 6, 2021 speech into what looked like one continuous call to march on the Capitol and fight.
The splice made Trump appear to directly incite the Capitol riot just before the election.

What actually happened
The two clips came from separate parts of the speech, and the splice cut the material between them. It came to light in November 2025 through an internal memo by a former BBC standards adviser. BBC Director-General Tim Davie and news chief Deborah Turness resigned. The BBC chairman apologized to the White House, and the BBC said the edit gave a mistaken impression of a direct call for violence. It said the program would not be shown again in that form. The BBC rejected Trump's defamation claim, and Trump filed a $10 billion suit in federal court in Florida in December 2025.
