■ The claim

Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal reported that Special Counsel Mueller had subpoenaed Deutsche Bank for records of President Trump's and his family's accounts, saying the probe had zeroed in on Trump's own business dealings.

■ What actually happened

Within a day both outlets corrected their stories. Bloomberg removed 'Trump's' from its headline and fixed the claim that Mueller had zeroed in on Trump. The WSJ said the subpoena concerned people or entities close to Trump rather than the president's own accounts. Trump's side publicly denied that his own records had been subpoenaed. A subpoena to Deutsche Bank did occur; the error was in saying it targeted Trump's own records.

■ The proof

Bloomberg's correction note and the WSJ's correction, both made Dec. 6, 2017.
