What actually happened
In the full remarks, Trump was praising Ohio-born Union Gen. Ulysses S. Grant as 'incredible' in a story about Lincoln turning to Grant to beat Lee. Two days later NBC tweeted a correction saying it had misidentified the general and that the clip lacked full context, and posted the full clip.
