What was reported

The AP published, and CNN aired, an account from a supposed survivor of the San Bernardino attack, including a claim tying the shooter to the GamerGate controversy.

What actually happened

The person later posted that the account was a hoax. The AP withdrew the story and reissued it without her account, a correction that also appeared on the copy hosted by the New York Times; CNN's Anderson Cooper had interviewed her on air.

The proof

The AP's correction removed the section after the source admitted the anecdote was a hoax.
