What was reported

In a USA Today column, Peter Zeidenberg, a former deputy special counsel, wrote that Mueller was building a broad conspiracy case likely to catch Trump's family and quite possibly Trump himself.

What actually happened

The column ran after Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to lying about the Trump Tower Moscow project, and Salon and AlterNet amplified it. Mueller's report did not charge any Trump family member or the president with conspiracy. It explained why Trump Jr. was not charged over the Trump Tower meeting and said the investigation did not establish coordination with the Russian government.

The proof

No Trump family member was indicted, and Mueller's report found no established conspiracy.
