Libs of TikTok flagged for senior-level review

The second Twitter Files thread showed the Libs of TikTok account was on Twitter's 'Trends Blacklist' and tagged so staff could not act on it without the SIP-PES group. It was suspended six times in 2022. An internal memo said it had not directly broken the hateful conduct policy.

The restrictions fell on a right-leaning account that criticized progressive gender and education policy.

What the record shows

Per Weiss, Libs of TikTok, run by Chaya Raichik, was tagged 'Do Not Take Action on User Without Consulting With SIP-PES' and placed on the 'Trends Blacklist.' Raichik said the account was suspended six times in 2022 alone. An October 2022 SIP-PES memo acknowledged she had not directly violated the Hateful Conduct policy. Weiss also reported that Twitter did not remove a tweet that posted Raichik's home address.

Wired and Slate argued the SIP-PES escalation tag gave high-profile accounts extra review before action, which can work as protection as well as restriction.
