What was reported

Defending President Biden's pardon of Hunter Biden, an Esquire column said President George H.W. Bush had pardoned his son Neil after the savings-and-loan scandal.

What actually happened

Neil Bush was never charged with a crime, and his father never pardoned him. Esquire first added a correction, but the column still implied a pardon. It then removed the column with a note saying it had been taken down because of an error, and that Esquire regretted the mistake.

The proof

Esquire's own correction and removal notice, plus the public record showing no pardon was issued to Neil Bush.
