After the Cohen sentencing filings, former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal told CNN's New Day that Trump's future looked like it was behind bars.

What actually happened

Katyal called the Justice Department filing 'incredibly damning' for Trump. Mueller brought no charges against Trump. Trump was later convicted on 34 New York felony counts in 2024 in a case brought by the Manhattan DA, not by Mueller. On Jan. 10, 2025, he received an unconditional discharge, with no jail, fine or probation. He has not been imprisoned.
