MSNBC's Ed Schultz Uses Year-Old Photo to Accuse Reince Priebus
Ed Schultz suggested RNC chairman Reince Priebus had misled the public about his whereabouts, showing a photo of him with Chris Christie and Jerry Jones at what was presented as that week's Cowboys-Eagles game.
The error impugned the honesty of the Republican National Committee chairman.
What was reported
Ed Schultz suggested RNC chairman Reince Priebus had misled the public about his whereabouts, showing a photo of him with Chris Christie and Jerry Jones at what was presented as that week's Cowboys-Eagles game.
What actually happened
The photo was from a game the previous year. The RNC had told MSNBC that Priebus was not at the game, but the show aired the image anyway. Schultz apologized on air the next night, saying the network should not have used it.
The proof
Schultz's on-air correction acknowledged the photo dated from 2013.
