What was reported

A Telegraph Magazine cover story made claims about Melania Trump's family, education, modeling career and her reaction on election night.

What actually happened

A week later the paper published an apology accepting that the article contained a number of false statements. It conceded, among other things, that she left university to pursue modeling rather than over a failed exam, was already a successful model before meeting Trump, met him in 1998, and did not cry on election night. The Telegraph agreed to pay substantial damages and her legal costs.

The proof

The Telegraph's published apology and settlement acknowledging the false statements.
