A venue miss in a prediction whose timing proved correct.

What was reported

On The Last Word, Weissmann predicted Trump would be indicted in the classified documents case that week, and that the case would be filed in Washington, D.C.

What actually happened

His timing was right: Trump was indicted three days later. The venue was wrong. Special Counsel Jack Smith brought the 37-count indictment in the Southern District of Florida, where it was assigned to Judge Aileen Cannon. Weissmann had said Florida was possible but that he did not expect it.

The proof

The June 8–9, 2023 indictment was filed and unsealed in federal court in Florida.
