The report served the Trump campaign's 'Clinton under criminal threat' closing argument.

What was reported

Six days before the election, Bret Baier reported, citing FBI sources, that the Clinton Foundation investigation would likely lead to an indictment barring obstruction, and also relayed claims that Clinton's server had been hacked by foreign intelligence services.

What actually happened

NBC, ABC and CNN reported the next day that their own sources disputed the account. On November 4 Baier apologized on air, calling the indictment wording a mistake because only prosecutors and a grand jury can bring charges, and he noted there were no digital fingerprints showing the server was hacked. No indictment of Clinton or the Foundation followed.

The proof

Baier's on-air apology and correction, and the absence of any indictment.
