Shifted blame for the Capitol riot away from Trump supporters.

What was reported

The Washington Times reported that XRVision facial-recognition software had matched members of antifa to people inside the Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot.

What actually happened

The story spread fast, and Rep. Matt Gaetz cited it on the House floor that night to suggest left-wing infiltrators were involved. XRVision demanded a retraction the next day, saying its software had identified no antifa members. The Times deleted the story, then reposted it with a correction and an apology to XRVision. The article was later pulled from the site entirely.

The proof

The Times' own correction said XRVision did not identify any antifa members and apologized to the company.
